We all know time can fly when we are having fun. If you really want to see it fly, then just jump into social media for a few minutes and you can easily see the time fly and the clock zoom rapidly to an hour.
Our time is precious and you want to make the best use of it each day. One way which you can do this is by using focused time blocks. If you want to catch up on the latest events in the news or social media, then block the time and set your timer. That way you’re using your time wisely and with focus.
If you have a large project that you might even be dreading starting or working on, then start with blocking 15 minutes of focused time on the task. It’s often the getting started part that delays us, or feeling overwhelmed because the task seems so large. You know that old saying…how do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time. The key part of the silly phrase is time. When you allow for focused time you block out any distractions. You set your phone to silent, except for a timer. You don’t answer emails or calls unless that’s what you blocked the time to focus on. It you apply this focused concept a few times in your day or week you will find that you’re moving forward with greater speed, ease and less stress.
So take out your calendar, look at that list of to do items, find the one of most importance and block some time to take care of it in focused time segments. It’s a simple concept but can have a wide impact when applied repeatedly. Try it for yourself and allow your brain to have some focused time. See how much you can accomplish in 15 minutes or a half hour segment. When you look back you might be pleased to see the results of your focused time.
